Strong contribution of P4FIT researchers to 2023 European Society of Biomaterials Conference (ESB 2023)

P4FIT ESRs from 4 different universities participated in the 2023 European Society of Biomaterials Conference (LINK: https://esb2023.org/ ) held in Davos, Switzerland, September 4th - 8th.

Over the course of the 4 days, six ESRs co-supervised by Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini (FAU) presented their research, participated in the networking and social events, and attended excellent scientific talks including a wide range of biomaterial applications, and presented their latest results in the form of posters and short oral presentations:

  • Francesco Iorio (FAU-TERAMO): Characterization of heparin-conjugated poly(ε-caprolactone)/gelatin aligned nanofibers for tendon tissue engineering

  • Sara Gil Cantero (UoV-FAU): Analysing the impact of tendon biomimetic scaffold morphology and chemical composition on immunological recognition

  • Florencia Diaz (FAU-KEELE): Dynamic in-vitro study of an aligned polymeric scaffold for tendon engineering

  • Seyma Sereflioglu (FAU-KEELE): Morphological comparison of PCL and PCL/gel electrospun nanofibers and in vitro toxicity evaluation with pig tendon-derived tenocytes and stem cells

  • Halldor Karason (UNISA-FAU): Synthesis of a wearable strain sensor using AgNW and PANI

  • Vera Citro (KLEELE-FAU): Growth factor delivery through electrospun fibre for tendon regeneration
